Conference Heritage and Depopulation in Europe


At the end of August 2025, HerInDep team together with the Faculty of Humanities will host a conference on the impact of depopulation in Europe. During the three-day conference, you will have the opportunity to attend series of intersting presentations and discussions with experts and researchers from the disciplines of cultural anthropology, ethnology, history, architecture, natural sciences, and other fields. This konference will be covering topics related to the depopulation of peripheral rural areas and urban centres and the impact on cultural and natural heritage in the broadest sense, as well as the relationship between humans and nature. Among others, we are honored to welcome Dace Dzenovska (University of Oxford), Camila del Mármol Cartañá (University of Barcelona), Mairéad Nic Craith (University of the Highlands and Islands), Ullrich Kockel (University of the Higlands and Islands) and Annelie Sjölander Lindqvist (University of Gothenburg).
