Shetland Heritage Association, the Shetland community partner in HerInDep, led the first of its series of workshops, which it is holding together with Shetland Amenity Trust, throughout the isles on Saturday 28th October between 1.45 – 3.45pm at the Bressay Heritage Centre, on the island of Bressay.

In November 2023, the HerInDep research team is going to meet again, in a joint study visit in Kaunas, Lithuania. We are going to discuss the ongoing research, held a workshop with local stakeholders, and participate in a guided tour in the study area.

In May 2023 students of ethnology and cultural anthropology (Charles University, Prague) spent a week in Broumov in northeastern Bohemia focusing on various aspects of depopulation and the transmission of cultural heritage. The town of Broumov and the adjacent villages have become one of the field sites for the HerInDep research group.

To kick off our research, we are holding a first joint visit from Lithuania and Shetland to the Czech Republic. Our whole team will be meeting up in Prague and together will visit Broumov, one of the central locations of our research on the Czech part.

On April 27, 2023, the HerInDep team had an online kick off project meeting. All three teams were brought together in an online environment and discussed the objectives, methodology and the main tasks of the project. Deliverables and outputs of the project were presented and discussed. The plan of the individual project stages was talked over. The Czech part of the team also provided some basic information on the upcoming study visit in the Czech Republic (June 2023).
